Power Playlist

Power Playlist

Old music does make me either sentimental, philosophical or just plain simple.  Either way, while listening to Rodriquez & going through twitter I came across a post,

‘We’re all guilty; let’s get past that to a place where we can properly address the problem’

I thought it was about Africa. It was about Nestle’s supply chain slavery, but I think it should have been about Africa, & Europe, & Asia, & …….  As politicians and world leaders do not have time to waste on actual life, I am thinking they may benefit from a simple playlist?

So what would you put on the Power Playlist?  What should politicians, leaders & the big guys be listening to on their ipods?  I will start this now, as a work in progress …..

War

CCR : Who’ll Stop the Rain           Long as I remember the rain been comin’ down, Clouds of mystery pourin’ confusion on the ground.  Good men through the ages tryin’ to find the sun. And I wonder still I wonder who’ll stop the rain.

The rain at Woodstock, climate change, bombs dropping like rain?  Let’s stop it.   Fogerty for President!

Society

Neil Young : Rocking in the Free World   People shufflin’ their feet, people sleepin’ in their shoes
But there’s a warnin’ sign on the road ahead, there’s a lot of people sayin’ we’d be better off dead
Don’t feel like Satan, but I am to them – So I try to forget it any way I can – Keep on rockin’ in the free world…..

This could cover the snooping laws, too?

Elected Leaders

Bellamy brothers : Old Hippy  He’s seen yuppies in the Whitehouse but he think’s they’re gonna fail ‘cos he just don’t trust a President that never has inhaled ……..  They built a wall to his War, then forgot the MIA

Men with no experience of life shouldn’t play chess with people as pieces.

Economy & Welfare

Tracy Chapman : Why  Why do the babies starve, when there’s enough food to feed the world
Why when there’re so many of us. are there people still alone, why are the missiles called peace keepers when they’re aimed to kill
Why is a woman still not safe, when she’s in her home

There is enough, even Willie says so

Willie Nelson : Write Your Own Songs  The world’s getting smaller and everyone in it belongs And if you can’t see that Mr. Purified Country ….. We’re making you rich, & you were already lazy …….  Why don’t you just write your own songs

Meantime, back to listening to Rodriquez & wondering what happened to the days when I knew all the answers.  I WONDER, duh duh duh duh dum……….

Ps : Additional song suggestions

From an Australian :

Queen : Another One Bites the Dust

From a country undisclosed:

Rush  : Freewill   There are those who think that life has nothing left to chance A host of holy horrors to direct our aimless dance  A planet of play things We dance on the strings Of powers we cannot perceive ‘The stars aren’t aligned Or the gods are malign…’ Blame is better to give than receive   [Chorus:] You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill I will choose a path that’s clear I will choose freewill  There are those who think That they were dealt a losing hand The cards were stacked against them They weren’t born in Lotusland  All preordained A prisoner in chains A victim of venomous fate Kicked in the face You can’t pray for a place In heaven’s unearthly estate  Each of us A cell of awareness Imperfect and incomplete Genetic blends With uncertain ends On a fortune hunt that’s far too fleet
